{"id":1963,"date":"2021-05-25T18:11:46","date_gmt":"2021-05-25T18:11:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wembdonparish.gov.uk\/?page_id=1963"},"modified":"2021-05-25T18:11:46","modified_gmt":"2021-05-25T18:11:46","slug":"policing-and-village-safety","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wembdonparish.gov.uk\/?page_id=1963","title":{"rendered":"Policing and Village Safety"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Wembdon Parish Council take a proactive stance on village safety. <a href=\"https:\/\/wembdonparish.gov.uk\/?page_id=1449#PlayingFields\">The Playing Fields, Children&#8217;s Playground<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/wembdonparish.gov.uk\/?page_id=1428\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1428\">Parklands<\/a> areas have extensive CCTV coverage, which has been used on a number of occasions to identify vandals to the Police. The local Police Community Support Officer takes an active interest in what is happening in the village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Road safety is also a matter of extreme importance in the Village. A volunteer<a href=\"https:\/\/wembdonparish.gov.uk\/?page_id=1958\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1958\"> Community Speed Watch team<\/a> has been active for a number of years, and a mobile Speed Indicating Device (SID) is regularly moved between locations on Wembdon Rise, Wembdon Hill, and Church Road. A recent installation of a fixed solar-powered SID on Wembdon Rise has resulted in a lowering of traffic speeds there, and a reduction in the number of speeders. A second similar device has been installed at the northern end of Wembdon Hill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An initiative by the Parish Council resulted in the installation of a Pelican crossing on Wembdon Rise by the junction with Inwood Road, a crossing point which is used by many children and parents on their way to and from <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wembdonstgeorges.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Wembdon St Georges Church School<\/a>. The Council would now like to install sprred reduction measures at the crossing in order to reduce the risks to pedestrians.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wembdon Parish Council take a proactive stance on village safety.
