Speed Watch

Motorists who speed through residential neighbourhoods are very often unaware of the impact their actions have on local residents, or the danger they pose to other road users and pedestrians.

The Community Speed Watch Scheme was set up in Wembdon to discourage drivers and motorcyclists from driving faster than the set speed limit. The scheme gives villagers the ability to actively get involved with road safety with the overall aim to tackle the problem of speeding motorists. Excessive speeders are reported to the Police, who take appropriate action.
At present there are more than100 Community Speed Watch schemes successfully running within the Avon and Somerset area.

If you would like to get involved and help volunteer a few hours a month then please contact councillor Dave Gliddon.
